Transfer to Pinnawala. Thereafter proceed on a excursion to visit The pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.

The Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage is one of Sri Lanka’s most popular tourist attractions. The orphanage’s population has now mushroomed to around 65, making it the world’s largest collection of captive elephants. The elephants here range in age from newborns to elderly matriarchs, and include orphaned and abandoned elephants, as well as those injured in the wild..

After breakfast, Enjoy a city tour of Kandy including visits to the Kandy museum, the royal botanical gardens, the panoramic views of Kandy from upper lake drive and a visit to the Peradeniya campus grounds. You will also get an opportunity to walk around the bustling Kandy town.

After an early breakfast at The Kandy House Procced on a tour to visit the Kandalama Tank reserve. Picturesque Kandalama Reservoir was created by building a dam across the Mirisgoniya Oya, a tributary of Kala Oya (river). The archives of the Department of Irrigation provide evidence that it has been rehabilitated between 1952-1957. Today it receives water from Mahaweli System thus maintaining full capacity year round which attracts hordes of tourists reciprocating beauty with surroundings. It is located at the outskirts of Dambulla Town.

Thereafter you will be able to climb 5th century Sigiriya Rock fortress which is a UNESCO world heritage site, built by King Kashyapa(477–495). The spectacular citadel of Sigiriya rises sheer and impregnable out of the plains of the dry zone. It is the country’s most memorable single attraction, a remarkable archeological site made unforgettable by its dramatic setting. The rock was the innermost stronghold of a 70 hectare fortifield town. A moat, rampart and extensive gardens including the renowned water gardens ring the base of the rock. Visit the world–renowned frescoes of the "Heavenly Maidens" of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway the 5th century citadel of Sigiriya which is one of the 7 UNESCO world heritage sites in It is a must see for any visitor to Sri Lanka where it is considered the 8th wonder of the world.

There are many treks and trails nearby as well as local excursions that can be done at Ceylon Tea Trails including mountain biking which is a great way to discover explore the local area.We drive to Sigiriya (approximately 40 mins) for a morning climb up to the Sky Fortress. The ruins of this 5th century fortress are one of Sri Lanka’s major attractions, a stupendous sight to behold and a feat of consummate engineering skill. A switchback series of steps (sometimes very steep) ascends to the top. Halfway up, tucked beneath a sheltering overhang of rock, are the famous frescoes –the Sigiriya Damsels, their colours still glowing. Magnificent views can be enjoyed from the summit of the rock palace (200m high). On our descent we board the bus for a short drive to Giritale. The rest of the day is at leisure or free for personal exploration around the Giritale reservoir which is rich in birdlife. There is time for an optional visit to the nearby Minneriya or Kaudulla National park where you can see wild elephants in their natural habitat.

You will visit the Dutch Fort. After breakfast proceed on a excursion to Visit the Dutch Fort.

The old part of the city within the Dutch Fort built in the 17th century has been declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO. A walk on the ramparts from Point Utrecht bastion to Flag Rock bastion will give you an excellent view of the ancient harbor which was know as Tar shish in the Bible. We will pass the District Court and the original entrance to the Fort enroute to the Dutch Reformed Church built in the 17th century. The New Town to the north of the Fort was badly affected by the tsunami in 2004 and is the home of the famous International cricket stadium which has been re–built.
